We first started coming across Maid-Rite restaurants on our trip in May as we followed US 20 east. A little research revealed that they were famous for loose-meat sandwiches which I’ve heard described as sloppy joes without the sloppy.
We zipped by the Big T Maid-Rite on the Lincoln Highway in Toledo, Iowa, on our October trip. I remember we were wondering if we’d run across any candidates in Iowa, but I guess we just missed Hillary when she pulled in here.
