Lyndon B. Johnson Historical Parks
The LBJ State and National Historical Parks are adjacent, a little west of Johnson City. This is where LBJ grew up and where he spent a good deal of time while President. The first six photos in the album were taken at the working farm in the state park with life presented as it was in 1918. The daughter of the family who lived there in the late 1800’s was midwife at LBJ’s birth.
Texas Natural
Some pictures of the flora and fauna we came upon as we trekked across Texas. The alligator, snake, and turtle were all seen behind the Welcome Center as we entered Texas from Louisiana. The rest of the flowers were either along the road, in the Big Thicket National Preserve, or at the Texas A&M botanical garden in College Station. It seems that whatever road you turn down, Lady Bird Johnson’s legacy of wild flowers is beaming back at you.
