Fall

Fall is not an easy season for me. Of course, the colors are gorgeous, but they are so fleeting and Winter is looming. Nonetheless, I try to appreciate it.

Reaching down,
You pick
A bright autumn leaf.
Between thumb and forefinger;
both joy and grief.

My favorite tree on the campus…

What are these red bushes called? Are these the ones that are outlawed in NH?

We saw this Great Blue Heron for a few days last year about this time…

Always glad to see some restoration going on downtown…

Catching up again

Once again there’s been a glitch and Steve didn’t move into his new house on the 15th. Furthermore, no new date has been set. Sooo… we’ve all been a little down.

I don’t have too many new pictures but here are a few.

sculpture

This is on the SUNY Brockport campus in front of the library. We walk by here every day and on this morning, we’d stopped for a minute while Mike took a stone out of his boot. Constructed in Russia, they were donated to the school by the sculptor in celebration of the participants in the Special Olympics which were held here in the summer of1979.

ducks

It seems to be rather late in the season for such a young duckling, but s/he and mama seem unperturbed by the increasing signs that fall is arriving.

bench
Mike has built two of these benches for the back porch.

On Sunday, we ventured out to Syracuse.

Trimmed up

The trim work is pretty much done now…

trim

For some reason, the number of boats spending the night has dropped off in the last couple of weeks. However, this large catamaran was here on Friday.catamaran

Oops!

On our way home this morning, Mike noticed this truck going by and said “that looks a little too high for the underpass”. Moments later, we heard metal bang against metal.

walk
The driver backed into this parking lot, climbed up, and walked down the boom. I’m not sure if he’s surveying damage, saying a prayer, or crying here.
