Bluebird
This is the first bluebird I’ve ever seen in the yard. The picture isn’t particularly clear but I was flabbergasted when I recognized it because generally they’re seen only in open areas.

We took this picture in Valdez, Alaska on one of our trips. In real life, this is a combination of 2 pictures; the ”lift thine eyes” sign was to the right of the church name and rather accurately describes the climate.
So what the heck is a loose meat sandwich?
We first started coming across Maid-Rite restaurants on our trip in May as we followed US 20 east. A little research revealed that they were famous for loose-meat sandwiches which I’ve heard described as sloppy joes without the sloppy.
We zipped by the Big T Maid-Rite on the Lincoln Highway in Toledo, Iowa, on our October trip. I remember we were wondering if we’d run across any candidates in Iowa, but I guess we just missed Hillary when she pulled in here.
